shit i took a nap sorry
i don't 'like' tao lin's writing, and i sort of resent his 'presence' and ability to diffract sadness into money
i rarely like eating up anything, anyway, although i like very very much like blatantly artificial food like 7-11 'big bite' hot dog potato chips, despite being a vegetarian, this is one of the reasons my friends thought i was a human 'experiment' if you want 'personal theory'
if someone came to my apartment with hot dog potato chips i think i would feel very emotionally fulfilled and take more seriously my relationships in real life and as an online persona, but i don't have any way of knowing someone is coming to my apartment beyond my cell phone so i think they would only end up frustrated with themselves and with me as well
but i think this youtube comment about his poem 'i went fishing with my family when i was five' is very illustrative

the way people force meaning out of nothing (especially in the field of high art). watch the audience go from amused to contemplative to uncomfortable to annoyed then finally relieved and in a state of understanding- as if there was something to be understood

i think you are reacting to my post without trying to apply it to tao's work at all, if you read 'love is a thing...' you would see very clearly that the 'protagonist' garret is portrayed as someone reacting to a world that doesn't make sense--even to itself--in a creative or artistic or at least 'unique' way, in the sense that all of those words are meaningless, in the way hipsters are 'unique' as a category but basically homogeneous in their 'species-essence,' which is empty, but as the story goes on you see through kristy that this 'unique' facade only exists to cover a deeply unpleasant personality, which is a way tao lin comments on hipsters as a depressed person

i'm going to go buy hot dog potato chips

I'm a student of English literature and I hate most English literary works.

Since I don't live in an English-speaking country, the status of this degenerate language as lingua franca makes moderately lucrative employment opportunities for me --- it's just that I hate what I study and I hate what I am.

And I tried to write, and translate some works in English but the one person who read it said I such at it.

Should I kill myself?

Distant traffic lights
Reflected on the sidewalk,
Slick with mist
From a Buddhist temple's sprinklers.

I look at him and I see how the rest of the world sees me, and I quiver with shame and disgust.

How depressing. I suppose I'll go off and read something.

I went on a lunch break with some cute girl from work today and we eventually managed to bring this godforsaken piece of shit up in conversation.
She asked me if I had read it, I blatantly lied and said yes. She went on for nearly 15 minutes on how well written Shades of Grey was; she said that EL James would go down in history as one of the best writers of the century.
I looked at her, flabbergasted.
After she had finished flapping her lips at me, she asked me my thoughts on the novel. I told her that I agreed wholeheartedly with her claims, another blatant lie, and that I could recommend her some other literature based on her very patrician tastes. She seemed really happy after I told her that. Before I even could think twice, she set the date: nine o'clock, after work, my apartment.
I'm currently typing this post out while she sleeps beside me in bed. I never thought such a shitty book would get me laid, but I guess I was wrong.

I wrote two chapters of a shitty novel and submitted it to TAR. It never got published. Does that make me a writer?

At one point in time I couldn't stop repeating the word investigation in my head.
I overheard it one day as I was on my way to a lecture a couple semesters back and couldn't stop thinking about how vile the pronunciation of it was.
I just kept repeating it in my head over, and over, and over again. It started to drive me mad. Investigation, investigation, investigation.

This thread got more responses regarding french actresses in ten minutes than my Loren Eiseley saw in two days.

>MFW every thread right now is curmudgeons chirping about Game of Thrones.
