Sex level: Kant

But I've read enough books not to give a fuck (most of the time), awesome huh?

>inherently and objectively

I don't think it is easy to argue anything "inherently and objectively" but I think that a good case could be made for literature being a much more mature medium (both as a historical artistic medium and as a pastime which is taken up by more mature folk).

I think that there are various reasons for this, but the major one being that video games are a young medium and one which is dominated by large corporations which make the games - and thus cater to the lowest pleb tastes (sick graphics, as much violence and sex as possible, etc) to make as much money as possible. I think the economic factor huge in this case. Also, it's possible that since they are 'built by committee' - the way video games are made and designed in the industry, is a factor in this as well.

Apart from incidental and historical reasons, I don't really see any inherent reason why video games as a medium would be inferior, it is just that at the moment, the vast majority of video games are inferior to the great works of literature, and therefore I just don't bother with them.

Shadow of the colossus was fun and interesting, but it wasn't a Mobi Dick caliber work of art either. No video game has ever made me think about great ideas or given me a sublime experience, like say a book, poem or a great film. Can anyone truly say that a video has done that for you? Which game?

Philfags get in here, this shit has been bothering me all week. What's your opinion on transcendental idealism, phenomenalism and epistemology in general? Do we have access to things in themselves or only just mental ideas/representations?
