>see /lit/ discussion, figure out his expulsion and everything was in a footnote
>somehow missed one footnote that was more important than 95% of the others
>fucking missed out on one of the greatest parts of the book

Alright /lit/, I am aware that there is some sort of meme opinion about this book, I don't know what that opinion or stereotype is, but I just finished it and thought it was incredible. What should I read in order to more fully appreciate it on my second read-through? I've heard Brothers Karamazov and Hamlet both are related to IJ somehow. Others?

If I was able to complete pic related without much trouble at all, should I be able to jump into Gravitys Rainbow and enjoy it and at least mostly understand it?

Basically I'm wondering how big of a leap in comprehension there is between IJ and GR before I go out and buy a copy of GR

So for the last year or so i have been wanting to read more for many reasons like expanding my vocabulary and writing skills which i need really badly, haveing more knowledge and in general feeling smarter and more confident.
Anyway i recently saw a movie called The End of the Tour which is about a interview with David Foster Wallace just after his ground breaking novel ''Infinite jest'', and it kinda pushed me into wanting to read a really good novel.

So anyway!
Can anyone give me advice out of experience? Is this a good book or is it overrated? Can i have some other recommendations ?
I literally know no one that is into reading. I mean who does these days?


I know i know, it's stupid to base something off a movie i saw. But that's how it usually is with me, i grab new hobbies by being impulsive... Sometimes if helps me and sometimes it don't.

Anyone else think this is a fantastic novel? Best book I've ever bought on impulse.
