Godel's theorem
Alan Turing
George Cantor
Etc etc... Lit should read some physics once in a while. Logic is full of contradictions , or read E Micheal Jones if you hate Jews, u get the same info. Or just sit in your sad materialistic universe and watch Rick and Morty. Grow the fuck up.

Any good contemporary /lit/ recs? What are the best novels you've read published in the last few years?

Been wanting to be a filmmaker for years, just been looking at the footage from my latest project, it's all shit, just like everything else I've shot. I have now come to terms with the fact that I'm a hack with neither the talent nor the drive to make it. Feels really liberating desu. I'm done deluding myself. I'm done.

doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for better, but try telling the slums of Pune that they live better than European monarchs

or does it just take this form? no one is born wanting to get rich from synthetic derivative financial instruments, capital is mostly autonomous and closer to a quantum state rather than following a defined path of human ambition. consider the idea that when you deposit your cash into a bank you have no idea what the bank uses those funds for. it's obscured to the point of abstraction and can only be monitored by a signifier (your atm receipt/balance)

his writing can be archaic and dense IMO and i find i'm constantly having to look up words, which interrupts the flow of the work. However, you won't find the gore and shock that has come to dominate the work of people that might be interested in his work now. But if you want to invest some time, Purloined Letter and Fall of the House of Usher are 2 really lesser-heralded stories. Masque of the Red Death is very topical, given COVID-19 and might be one of the more accessible

Will this go down as the most spiritually significant moment of our millennium?

This decade revealed that our civilization is fucked up beyond repair and we are doomed ultimately for collapse. Strangely enough though that collapse is somehow hopeful. The visceral rage and awakening of the population during the latter half at least makes me think this century could end better then how it started even if we won't have a western civilization by the end of it.

Is there anything that truly captures the spirit of the age we're living in?

I genuinely find this incident extremely moving and compelling. Rich, from his conversations with air traffic and his online presence anyway, seems good-natured and jocular, but he was clearly troubled. A man bogged down by menial work and the fact that, despite some of the signifiers of success like good friends and a family, he'd garnered none of the promised concomitant fulfillment. He didn't want to, and did not, hurt anybody else; rather than go on a shooting spree or join some jihadi death cult, he diverted his disaffection into one last blaze of glory, an opportunity to see some beautiful sights and pull off some cool stunts.

For me it evokes the concept of the beautiful death found throughout Mishima's output, and the assertion of DeLillo's Mao II that the artist is being usurped with regard to his ability to move a populace in the mass media age.
