How big is the gnostic movement? I became interested in the subject/texts about a month ago though I still usually just look at the memes.

Not a Hermetic but Gnostic Christianity is Based. I am currently reading through Gnosticism: New Light on the Ancient Tradition of Inner Knowing by Stephen A Hoeller and so far it has been a great enjoyable read.

How do I begin with the Gnostics?

Is the internet a man-made demiurge prison?

>traps a higher form of existence (real life) into a prison of illusions and frustrated desires
>compounds and enhances suffering
>uses sexual desire as a primary means to grow and keep souls trapped
>undermines "higher" notions of connections between souls such as nuance, empathy and understanding by reducing people to hatred and envy

It's quite interesting in that people have to a large extent "transcended" the material realm only to create an immaterial realm which is more degraded and base than the actual material realm.
