A novel is the story of a change. Something changes dramatically. So think of something that can change. Once you've got an idea of that, try to get an idea of everything that can lead up to that change, and everything that could result from it. Including everyone you think could be affected by it, and everyone who could have a viewpoint on it, those will be your characters, and side characters. Your main protagonist will be the one in the story who has the most at stake involving the change. (Or second most at stake if the antagonist is a villain) It kind of builds from there, you'll need some kind of climax event. and some kind of inciting incident. Just do a lot of brainstorming, or steal the basic framework from some story.

But don't get me wrong, you can have a story without a plot.

Why did the absurdist theater movement have absolutely no impact on post-War literature at all?

Popular literature, at least stylistically, is often influenced by popular theater. But somehow absurdism never found it ways into 'novels'-- or at least not in the same way?

Not writing a paper I swear.

What am I to make of this? Is it an allegory, or some kind of comment on the human condition?

I'm baffled, but on the other hand, I enjoyed it a whole lot. It was chilling at some parts, and sometimes it felt like a fun surreal buddy comedy.

I'm looking for the Sir Ian + Sir Patrick rendition of Waiting for Godot... Anyone have this excellent piece of lit? Also, discuss Waiting for Godot, one of the best post modern lit I can think of.

Ok /lit/, I'm on a journey from /mu/. I just bought Waiting for Godot, and Three Novels by Beckett.

I love French existentialism, but Beckett, Camus and Sartre are really all I'm familiar with. Can /lit/ recommend some other authors for me? Primarily looking for French, but existentialism in general is a huge love of mine.
