Thanks anon I'm glad you liked it. It's set during the battle of Annual in the Rif War, between the Spanish and the Berbers in Morocco. In 1921 Spanish forces under General Silvestre overextended themselves and were destroyed piecemeal by the Rif. About 20,000 Spaniards were killed at Annual, compared to about 800 Berber Rifenos. The Rif massacred thousands of prisoners in cold blood during and after the battle, including Silvestre himself. The Spanish and the Berbers have had a long and troubled acquaintance.
