What are the best arguments in favor of God? Recently I've been a hardcore atheist but reading more and more philosophy of religion and science has made me more agnostic. The cosmological and teleological argument are convincing but not enough for me to believe in God only enough to be agnostic. The best argument in favor of Atheism for me has always been the problem of evil but two arguments one that the God of the Christian bible is extremely violent which means the world is consistent with The Bible and two that humans including you and me don't give a fuck about what happens to microbes. If everyday you were killing millions by stepping on them and there were little microbe holocausts going on and you wouldn't give a single shit even if someone told you. Why would God feel differently?

How the fuck does Aquinas jump from one conclusion to the other? What's the logic behind this?

To whoever says they became a Christian because of Thomas Aquinas: YOU ARE A PSEUD OR A LIAR! He was a theologian, not an apologist. Every single thing he wrote was for a religious audience. Everything he wrote is THEOLOGY aka it presupposes that you are religious! He never wrote anything to convince anyone, he was essentially a technician of religion. All the summa answers is if certain things are sins like wet dreams.

God is omnipotent, and as such he possesses every possible potency, and only those. This means that before asking the question you've asked, you first have to prove that the expression "creating a stone so heavy that not even God can lift it" refers to a possible type of potency. If it isn't, asking the question you've asked would be as meaningful as asking "can God green the beret dog-bazooka?".

My take on this one is that it's not a type of potency, since it directly contradicts the omnipotence of a being who is omnipotent by essence and definition. Since this cannot possibly be a potency, insofar as it cannot be actualized due to its internal contradiction, we can say that God cannot create that kind of stone, and that this fact does not hinder His omnipotence in the slightest (since he can still do everything that is possible).
