>reading book
>sex / gf scene out of nowhere
>protagonist acts as if it's a normal everyday thing
>stop reading and cry for 10 minutes before continuing
>happens again
>throw book in the rubbish

Every time. But even worse:

>reading BEE / McInerney / any book with young people and recurring elements of hedonism / sex / models etc.
>feels like torture but I can't stop reading
>it's the life I never had (in final year of uni with nofriends etc.)
>literally heaven on earth being described, e.g.
>new york club scene by night, publishing / upper middle class existence by day
>or liberal arts colege fuckfest
>finish novel
>go online
>critics all parrot: "omg the main character saw someone take cocaine, this novel describes a hell on earth!"

Any thoughts? Are these critics engaging in normalfaggot hypocrisy?

>realise that if I had just worked from 9-5 Monday to Friday and done nothing else my hours worked would increase about 10 times
