Tell me /lit/, what are the advantages to being an capitalist? I don't intend this to be a bait thread (I would have posted on /pol/ instead), I am honestly interested in rational explanations and figure that this is the best board for a discussion of philosophy.

From what I reckon, there are plenty of good reasons to to be a revolutionary communist, or at least be socialist. On the practical side, it provides social connections, a solid basis for community and a model for self discipline. And dialectically, you stand to gain potentially everything at no cost besides your chains .

However, rejecting all communism seems to be a pure handicap, both socially and economically. If there is no societal progress derived from class conflict and technological development, do you gain anything by rejecting it? And if there is, what do you lose by not supporting the cause, and by extension its adherents?

For the record, I was raised as a member of the bourgeois class, became a communist in adulthood and work as clerk in a Manchester mill.
