Still need more early Church? Augustine's City of God. 5th century, late antiquity. Christianity was ascendant, and the pagan Greek philosophers were writing their last. Augustine was a reformed Manichean, but in this work he very clearly portrays life on Earth as an eternal conflict between God's chosen people (Christians) and agents of the Devil (everyone else). This book was massively influential in setting the tone for centuries of Christian license to the persecution of heretics. When you think of pillaging crusaders or fiery inquisitions done in Jesus' name, it's mostly because of this guy.

Satan is just a literary device. The entire point of Job is that shit happens for no discernible reason, even if you're a faithful follower of God. The book ends with God coming down and asking Job if he knows all the things God does and it ends with Job acknowledging that his understanding is limited and he should put his faith in God because ultimately only God knows the consequences of allowing good and bad things to happen.

There's also a second minor point where God rebukes Jobs friends for trying to pin the blame on Job without knowing what the fuck they were talking about, which is the secondary point in the book which is just because bad things happen doesn't mean they're a punishment from God, as Jobs friends continually assert.

How is reading the original works of philosophers not stupid? If you studied math, you wouldn't study Euclid's Elements or Euler's notebooks or papers or whatever or Principia Mathematica, so why do this in the domain of philosophy? Just find a good encyclopedia. Except if you really like the philosopher of course.
