I'm new here, and per one of your request, read this book. It was good. Thank you.

To elaborate a bit so I'm not a shallow bitch, I especially liked what Williams did with Edith. She was awful, but not hate-able. That was the case with a few characters (Walker, Lomax). I wasn't immediately drawn to Stoner, as he seemed to ordinary, but I suppose that was the core of the book. Look how beautiful and interesting this completely forgettable man's life was.

Also, it can't go without discussing the effect of both World Wars on the setting of this novel. It seemed that the state of the US directly effected character's moods and decisions. Seems surface-level, I know, but that's only because William's feelings towards war is pretty blatant. War = bad.
