As a kid, I figured out if i checked books out, and didn't bring them back, they would wait for the value of fines to build up to the supposed value of the book, then they would just make you buy the book. Of course, their pricing was like 30 years off, so I ended up getting a bunch of vintage books, like a first edition library edition of the Hobbit for like three dollars. They kicked me out eventually, but who gives a shit?

Also, as a teenager, a friend of mine worked here, and there was this weird girl I'll call Ugly. Any time my friend would have a party or something, he'd bring Ugly along. Not only was she Ugly, but she was boring as fuck too. One party, Ugly would grab people and read them their horoscopes out of a huge book she had. She read out of my horoscope once that Geminis like having their lungs massaged, and asked if she could massage mine. I laughed it off, but didn't realize she was truly hitting on me. At another party, we were sitting at a table, and she kept hitting my knee with hers. At another one, Ugly got completely shitface, came up to me and started licking and sucking my fingers, and drooling all over my hand, then said we should go to the bathroom. I basically ran away. We were all hammered, so my friend drove us all home, in the car she started crying and demanding why I want nothing to do with her, I ignored her. I barely knew this bitch. When we dropped her off, she started punched herself in the head on her front lawn as we drove away.

Years later, I went to the library and saw her working there. she looked haggard as fuck, like she basically ate and smoked cigarettes for substance, and her one arm was missing below the elbow. I ran the fuck out, haven't been back to the library since.
