It is possible to replace the religious longing/mystic union to God with Euphoria.

Has anyone else here read it and do you agree with Finkelstein? The main argument of this book is that it is possible for modern man, by using drugs and for example attending modern art museums under the influence of psychedelics to totally eradicate and even transcend the religious longing that archaic religions offered

Instead of trying to achieve some sort of religiou feeling, devotion to God, one is to replace devotion with Euphoria, prayer with Orgiastic ecstasy and discipline/ritualism with spontaneous improvisation that for example Jazz music and psychedelics offer to the individual

Just ordered second hand copy of this. The catholic church tried to ban this in Italy
