If you actually have a relatively in-depth understanding of it then Buddhism is actually a pretty good argument against religion and in he sense that the argument against religion aligns with Buddhas teachings as opposed to the way OP phrased it where reading a purportedly holy book shows you that's religion is silly.

What Buddhism teachings about cravings and the ego and psychological need etc. goes a long way into showing how some people adopt belief systems to allay emotional issues or to fill a need and so forth. Buddhism also has a lot. Lessons to teach about the practicality of various religions and what the ultimate value of accepting a doctrine is if it does not solve or help you with any of your problems or provide any insight.
