Which translation of K. Bros is the best? I just picked up pic related from Goodwill for 65 cents, but if I'm going to invest the time/effort required then I want to read the best/most enjoyable/preferably least stuffy translation of it.

jesus christ this was amazing. everything i've read up until now has just been preparation for this book. i doubt ill ever find a book that tops this

I just finished this masterpiece. Now I'm kinda depressed because I have nothing else to read as well as Dostoïevski's novel.
Ivan is a fascinating character...and God Aliosha is so kind. He inspires me such sympathy... Now I'm trying to figure out what was the main ideas of the novel. What was the meaning of Ivan's ideology? Did you understood The Grand Inquisitor's depth?
It's the best treatment of religion. It's the claque of my life.

How do I read a book that wasn't written in a language I can read?
Not that translations are bad or anything, but some things could be out of context and I do not want that.
Is it mandatory to learn another language to be able to 100% truly experience a book they way the author meant it to be?

Is there a point in reading anything but Dostoyevski, /lit? He literally said everything there is to say about the human condition in his opus (and he even repeats himself a lot, which only proves that there is nothing more to say).

I got The Brothers Karamazov for $4 at a flea market a few weeks ago, haven't had a chance to read it yet.

Hello /lit/, I bought Dostoevsky's "The Brothers Karamazov" some time ago, and I was wondering; What should I expect from it? What was your reaction after reading it? Also, is it a hard read? Thanks for answers.

Which translation is the best one? I'm not sure which one to get, and seeing how much praise this gets, I'd rather not get a butchered product.

I want to read this but I don't speak Russian and there are about 1000 different translations of it on amazon.

Which would you suggest? I'd like a modern translation, really - 19th century language is hard to read.

So /lit/ I'm starting to read one of your beloved books. Anything I should keep my eye out for? I haven't read Dostoevsky in years, but I liked Notes from Underground so I have high hopes for it.
