Melodramatic, cartoon characters, surface-level themes, mostly bland prose. I'll admit there were a few nice passages, and the screw-hole joke was funny, but what a disappointment. Is all Steinbeck like this?

She gave me her paperback copy of it before we broke up, I'll probably read it over the summer

I understand why Steinbeck himself thought this book was his magnum opus. Definitely one I'll remember for a long time.

Shoutout to Samuel btw, I really resonated with his character.

Who were your guys favorite characters. I really liked Sam, Cal, and Lee.

I love being completely engrossed in a good book. Totally captivated by the narrative and consumed in the magic. I don’t read casually, only books that really happen to suck me in.

Any suggestions for books that really took your imagination by storm and that you couldn’t pull away from? Any genre!

Worst book I've ever read. Grapes is just as bad, but at least it's shorter.

I don't read much but I've been trying to get into the habit. The only books I've read out of school are "House of leaves" which I loved and "The pale" king which was hot garbage. I'm on chapter 3 and I love it so far.
