How hard is it for a native french speaker, who has experience learning languages (english and hebrew) with hazy memories of high school spanish and who has the means and time to travel a bit around europe, to go all romance and learn latin, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese ? enough to speak and read stuff like Lucretius, Virgil, Dante, Cervantes or Neruda, Pessoa, Borges, Calvino, etc. Should I learn just german or russian instead ?

I'm so deprived, I've even started looking into yogic philosophy and martial arts stuff (like Takuan Soho). But nothing really hits as hard as Mishima.
