Nobody thinks I should read Barth or more Heller?

The thing is, I'm in the only person in this topic that even owns The Recognitions.

Seriously, what happened to all the other Gaddis fans I see on /lit/, especially that guy that always calls me Sunhog?

Like the ones for kids, with sports stars. It could be something like 200 carefully selected writers, with varying time periods and genres. How cool would that be? Admit it, you'd buy it. Of course, everyone would just be trading for DFW.

Just yesterday, I spent my remaining book money on...a book. I only just realised that 11/22/63 is out tomorrow. I've wanted to read this for ages (although this board doesn't like King much, not even Dark Tower anymore).

I hadn't seen that one before. My favourite was always the one I'm posting now. Good stuff.

I see that he has new UK editions of his books out. For 3 or 4 years, we had those simple front covers, with some tagline under the title, but now there's a bunch of more elaborate covers out. Also, the 7 current Dark Tower books have new front covers, perhaps to match the forthcoming 8th book.

Anyone else see this?

The Third Reich, out in the UK on Jan 5th.

I've ordered them the way I want to read them, top to bottom, although it often changes when I decide on the order.

The Skating Rink – Roberto Bolano
Monsieur Pain – Roberto Bolano
Death In The Andes – Mario Vargas Llosa
The Storyteller – Mario Vargas Llosa
The Stories of Eva Luna – Isabel Allende
The Autumn of the Patriarch – Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said – Philip K Dick
Moon Palace – Paul Auster
Oracle Night – Paul Auster
The Tent – Margaret Atwood

Are you happy I put Atwood last, are you? Seriously, The Tent looks like it might be really boring, then again...maybe not. Can't wait to read some more Bolano, even if it's only 150 - 200 pages for each book. I doubt it'll be awesome like 2666, but decent or good.

Single work authors don't count.

David Foster Wallace (6)
Flannery o'Connor (4)
Haruki Murakami (12)
Jonathan Franzen (4)
Richard Yates (9)

Nothing like reading the whole oeurve of a writer. You feel a sense of completion when you...complete their work. And prolific writers are always good, because they give you so much to read.

I just want opinions from well-read people.

The Corrections - Jonathan Franzen
Cakes and Ale - W Somerset Maugham
The Moon and Sixpence - W Somerset Maugham
Moral Disorder - Margaret Atwood
Different Seasons - Stephen King

What think, /lit/? Of course, my crappy local bookstore will probably only have The Corrections and Different Seasons.
