does anyone know what the second-to-last word is in the second line? I assume the 3rd letter is meant to be a lowercase 'L', so it would be 'valente'. my more literal translation would be this:
>It had been more useful for us not to know the future. for I am compelled by the strong one (valente) having been angered to endure/suffer (my) fate
'pati' ime takes a direct object, so I took 'fata' as that, and took 'irato valente' as the ablative of agent with the passive 'cogor', though perhaps the agent is not specified and 'irato valente' is just an ablative absolute describing the circumstances. what do y'all'z think?

>neoplatonism
>decadent magic
but anons you know that theurgy is actually an inherent practice of a neoplatonism

>always think "start with the greeks" means "read the greeks so you can know all the basic points they made about philosophy"
>actually start with the greeks
>read through all of plato, aristotle, the hellenist philosophers, even the middle platonists
>read eunapius and philostratus
>go all the way through neoplatonism and into late antique and christian neoplatonism
>tfw turned me into an esoteric platonist
>tfw now understand all those "arbitrary" metaphysical schemes of aristotelian and scholastic philosophers as genuine attempts to do cosmology within a neoplatonic emanationist framework
>tfw even when a scheme doesn't work you can still vulcan mind meld with its author and catch glimmers of the weltanschauung that produced it
>tfw now believe magic is literally real
>tfw get butterflies in my stomach thinking about higher realms
>tfw can't tell whether i'm pre-schizophrenic or just have a crush on the Absolute
