unless you want to go ultra skepticism then you pretty much have to accept that ideas exist.

It is frankly impossible to live according to the philosophy that ideas don't exist, the same goes for most uber-skeptic philosophies. Why do you think David Hume was such a happy chap even though his philosophy, if lived accordingly, would produce a very depressed man. It is because although he theorized about his skepticism it is impossible to live by it accordingly so he separated the two areas of his life, unlike a lot of philosophers.

Also your relation of memes to God is stretched at best. The two things are much more than just ideas having an effect on people. You are oversimplifying for the sake of comparison. Try reading up on Lebiniz's philosophy on ideas, although it is very dry it is interesting if you can make it through it.
