Does Bible explicitly state that there are no other Gods, or only that you can't worship them in any way?

Major Premise: Sixty men can do a piece of work sixty times as quickly as one man.
Minor Premise: One man can dig a posthole in sixty seconds; therefore—
Conclusion: Sixty men can dig a posthole in one second.*

We know this is not possible. With logic thus disproved, remind us why you are not quaking in your boots before Almighty God?

I want to believe in God. /Lit/, how do I develop faith? What can I read that will convince me of the existence and benevolence of God? How can I build my faith once I do so?

God approaches you with the idea that he would like to try something different. He will run the universe by the ethics of one particular philosopher. He asks you to pick one.

Who will you choose?

The non-literal bits do not have to mean that they have purpose for current-age bible readers. A lot of the OT are the stories and recollection of the people of Israel and their heritage, how they reflect themselves, and what they can keep together despite war.

Paul saying the books are divinely inspired gives reason for people for people to jump and say "allegory!" but we must also remember old books like that also served as a purpose as a unifier of the people of Israel and as a record of their people, by their people.

But that's just some things like Genesis and the conquest of Canaan. Other parts, like Revelation, are different.
