this is the obvious solution, yet unproductive.
it has nothing to do with enlightenment(i don't even know what that is)
its the acknowledgement and understanding that you really don't understand -paraphrasing Socrates

There's no philosophy board so I came here in hopes of some assistance.
I need to write a paper for my ethics class on how Plato's theory of justice/worldview is superior to our current one, regardless of whether or not that is true. Any and all help would be appreciated, if I can just put this thesis together the rest will be cake.

I'm interested in your opinion in this two Dialogues.

Socrates' Apology:

1st accusation. Criminal curiosity and teaching of his doctrines.
__Counterarguments.
a) I don't follow cults (the accusation might refer to pythagorean cults), nor do I hod extravagant beliefs.
b) I don't teach nor do I charge any money
c) The god of Delphos pronounced me the wisest, because I at least know I don't know anything. It is then my obligation to help others reach my same conclusion, making them just as wise.

2nd accusation. Corrupting the youth by believing in novel daemons instead of the gods of the State.
__Counterarguments.
If Socrates corrupts the youth he does it either
1. Voluntarily or involuntarily
2. If it's involuntarily then she ought to be scolded privately and not dragged to trial
In the hipotetical case of Socrates corrupting the youth involuntarily
1. He has no monetary gain from it
2. There's no gain in making those that surround you worse
3. No bad can coe of teaching others about virtue

The jury fails against Socrates and after he chooses a fine as his penalty he's rejected and condemned to death, Socrates holds his opinion and assures that the people condemn him have done wrong to themselves and Athens not to him

Why is Plato regarded so highly?

Besides creating the idea of a totalitarian state, making up Socrates and bringing the full-time education concept (which was about to come sooner or later anyway), why do people care about him?

Principles of Human Knowledge by Berkeley
An Essay Concerning Human Understanding by Locke
An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding by Hume

what is the preferable order of reading these? if you had to categorize from "best to worst" or "most important to least important" what would you pick? i always get them mixed up.

In regards to Philosophy, which book should I read as a very first?

There's so many different opinions on this that I'm incredibly confused. But is there any issue with starting with something like Plato, The Republic, and reading Heidegger/Nietzche etc, later?

Recommendations please?

Writing a treatise doesn't make you a philosopher, get off your ass and open an academy you fat fuck!
