Why do people still believe in this non-sense

In the Appendices in LOTR ROTK it says "See pp. 952,956" and various other page numbers that don't exist because the books don't have that many pages; while other notes just tell me what Book and what page I need to look to. Probably a stupid question, but where do I find the pages that those notes refer to?

When Sam used the Ring in ROTK why didn't the Nazghuls or The Eye of Sauron notice?
