Was Nietzche a moralistic nihilist? When he talks about the will to power being beyond morality it seems like he is.

This may sound a bit contradictory since Nietzsche wasn't one for systems, but what would the commandments of Nietzscheanism be? Is there a specific prescriptive philosophy to be found in his work?

If he could have made some general guidelines and principles for people to live by, what would they be?

What's wrong with Nietzsche?

I understand the hatred of his idiotic teen fanbase, but I've failed to hear criticism of any of his actual philosophies, and what I do hear is incredibly vague. It leaves me to wonder if any of you have actually read Nietzsche.

Come to think of it, a lot of the discussion is just pretentious wanking to Homer.

Hey /lit/, so I'm working on some homework on Nietzsche's Genealogy of Morals and I'm looking for some inspiration. The homework is on what he would think of American society today. Personally, I think he would be reviled, but in a way, I don't know why. I keep going back to the master-morality slave-morality dichotomy. I think about the way American society is and the relationship between the business class and the rest of the country. On the one hand, the business class is reviled for taking control of politics (master-morality?) and the rest of the country for being stupid enough to let it happen (slave-morality?) What do you think?

Also, I only read the Birth of Tragedy. Would the Gay science be a good next step?

I want to get into Nietzsche, I have always felt some connection to the guy and agreed with him about a lot of stuff, but I have not even read anything by him!

So where do I start?

What do I need to start reading by Freddy N.?

Where does /lit/ suggest I start with this man? And what translation?
