Why are the protagonists in Lovecraft's works always NEETs? Where do they get the money for their travels, strange purchases, and assissting workmen? It's like they have unlimited resources but no job.

I think people must exaggerate about Lovecraft. He hated EVERYTHING. Not just, you know. His hatred for literally everything is what made him such a good writer.

Any good books about Lovecraft, specifically about his philosophy/reading through Lovecraft? I've already read Ligotti and Houellbecq's book about him.
