If existence precedes essence then an ad hominem is a valid form of argument and not a logical fallacy as it's commonly believed. Am I missing something?

Question, /lit/:

Sartre is all about human beings being born into the world and form their own identity. But then he turns to this idea of authenticity --that a human must be true to this "self", or else one is living inauthentically (something of a "false" self).

Isn't this contradictory or underestimating the degree of influence social forces have on the formation of an individual's identity and values?

What's /lit/'s occupation?

Anyone feeling generous? I know the guy who's trying to get it published, he's a pretty decent sort. This book might not be fantastic but I think he has potential, and it would be great for him if he could get this published. It's been his dream for years to get something out.

Hey /lit/! I'm just wondering if any of you have a copy of Sartre's Being and Nothingness in txt or html format? /r/ failed me, and pdf formats out there suck (all are ocr'd and some texts are fucked)
