Offer me some suggestions of existential/absurd novelists/playwrights. I've gotten quite passionate about it lately. So far I'm familiar with Nietzche, Dostoevsky, Camus, Kafka, and Sartre as novelists, and only Beckett as absurd theater. I've heard other names such as Jaspers, Heidegger, etc. but haven't read/ don't want to read them if they don't compare to the others i mentioned. Thanks /lit/

Hey /lit/, I am a computer science major starting my sophomore year. I have been struggling with my first existential crisis and began receiving treatment for untreated mental illnesses. I'm doing a lot better now, but I'd like to be a more well-rounded person and not some sort of "stem-fag". What literature would you recommend to a young person trying to find their place in the world? Pic kind of related, I find existentialist philosophy interesting and it's helped me out a lot, even if some people think it's kind of edgy. I'm not looking for any particular subject or genre, so I'd appreciate whatever recommendations you have.

Good evening, I would like to give myself a course in Existentialist philosophy while I take a semester off from school, and I would like to ask /lit for some advice before I begin.

First, I want to know what is considered "the best" introductory book? Obviously each has its pros and cons and I would appreciate it if /lit has any recommendations and could evaluate some typical introductions. Is this Very Short Introduction any good? I've only read the VSI to Literary Theory and it was impeccable, but I have heard VSI's can be hit or miss.

Second, what is Heidegger's relevance to Existentialism? I have read that his work is crucial to understanding the Existentialism, but I have seen a few college syllabi omit primary texts from Heidegger entirely. If /lit can provide a summary of the nature of Heidegger's influence on Existentialism I may skip him for the time being.

Third, I have yet to find a lecture series online concerning Existentialism that I trust intellectually. If anyone knows quality lectures please link.

Fourth, any additional advice concerning my plan for self-study is welcome. Ask questions regarding my plan and I will respond

We must all have more in common than we think if we seriously care about literature enough to come to this board and post when we could be wanking to teens on /b/.

I wonder if there are actually some neck beards and fedora wearing gentlemen. Maybe there is some cunt who body builds and is freaking massive. Could anyone else stand to lose some weight like me? Maybe someone ACTUALLY looks like a promising author, if an author can really be told by appearance at all.

I wonder if a faces of /lit/ thread would be welcomed and embraced on this board of all places, where cynical, sarcastic and perhaps slightly reserved people seem to gravitate.

So, this is my question; would anyone ever actually be interested in seeing what people on /lit/ look like, and would people be brave enough to post a picture of themselves?
