be that it may, diversity hiring stems from a reaction to bias that we know we have but can't adjust to naturally. Its easier to say "look, just hire the black guy" than to reflect on a lifetime of why it is you might overlook a candidate for someone that resembles yourself unless of course you believe that people of x characteristic are superior by nature
