get this at the library and read it. This book took me from never having read a book outside of high school to reading 3 books a month

Am I missing something, or is this book not that good? Feels like YA to me. And I loved Mother Night by Vonnegut, so I don't know why the writing of Slaughterhouse-Five annoys me so much.

I'm relatively new to reading seriously. My question is do you ever read a book and feel as if you didn't learn a moral lesson, or really anything at all. I've just finished Slaughterhouse Five and enjoyed the book. I understand its antiwar but i'm not sure it taught me anything. I honestly feel I must have missed something.

Nah, I'm just about to finish it and it's good, I suppose. But does anyone else detect a slight smugness/arrogance in that sort of 60s-70s American sci-fi? I got the same sense reading Foundation.

I thought it was pretty alright. Does he have anything better?

I have to write a short essay -2000 words- for a mandatory literature class.

While it can (and should) touch subjects like the holocaust and WW2 and authors like Primo Levi or Kurt Vonnegut's slaughterhouse five, I have trouble finding an appropiat subject to comment on.


Any help? I'm not looking for someoen to write an esay for me, but to help me chose a subject.

hey guys. currently in the middle of reading this book, when a thought occurred to me.

How exactly should I be reading my books? should I read them for the story? The characters? should I be looking for something deep in each story? should I be analyzing each and every page in an attempt to come up with some sort of interpretation of my own? what the hell am I reading for anyways?
