Socializing only exists to benefit the individual. On the surface and in our consciousness socializing is peaceful and positive, but deep-down it's just a way to ensure individual security. You may feel happy when with a friend, but that's because only those who felt good when around others were more likely to survive than those who lived alone and disliked others. Having friends and living in a community is a purely selfish behavior, and not based on good intentions. You can find safety and resources in a community, which is good for you. You only feel sadness when someone dies because it means the community is smaller hence weaker hence you have an increased risk of dying, so sadness is a selfish emotion, just like joy when around others. You want to avoid sadness so you try to keep others alive. Altruism is selfish because you help others to: improve your social reputation, create a debt that must be repaid in the future, maintain the strength of your community to ensure your own safety, and to avoid sadness.

All of these emotions and social behaviors humans have are vestiges of ancient times, and it shows today. You don't bat an eye when you read about others suffering in the news, which is because you can't actually see the people suffering, meaning people don't inherently care about others suffering and your emotions must be programmed in over many, many naturally-selected generations to exist. Articles didn't exist hundreds of thousands of years ago when modern social behaviors were being created. Having such large populations today really highlights the inconsistencies of human social behaviors.

However, this makes places like 4chan pure. You indulge in the joy that arises from socializing, but you leave behind the selfish reasons that the joy exists for. Browsing 4chan is like masturbation--exploiting an inherently evil thing for your own self-pleasure. There are no people on 4chan, just a bunch of consciousnesses exploiting their own evil programming.
