Not OP but I had a change of heart like that when I was 18: while getting frustrated at some small annoyance at my job I came to the realization that letting small things niggle at me is pointless, and that I am ultimately more in control of how I react to things like that than it initially appears. Since then I rarely let the small things get to me, and it has colored my life in a more positive light.
It may not help you out though. It seems to me that most people don't or won't exercise the willpower necessary to quit sweating the small stuff.
