market allocation of resources is exponentially complex and fucking retarded. over the last 400 years (not that long btw!) we've gone from ships taking things to where they need to be with some trading at ports to this current fucking nightmare system where massive business entities are flying objects around the planet 3 times to save 5p per item. just relying on 'le invisible hand' is not sustainable because the market reaches a level of complexity that is A) incomprehensible to non-entrenched business entities (stifling out competition) B) destructive to the environment C) increasingly reliant on significant global inequalities (incentivizing their perpetuation)
