Every time I'm reading a narrative I'm projecting part of myself into whatever I'm reading. Sometimes it does feel that I'm putting up too much effort into it to a point that I feel like I'm inventing part of my own interpretation.

But at the same time, you are expected to be able to fill some gaps to actually construct the whole thing.

So /lit/ how do you know you have done more than you should?
