Doing great, V9 has started recently and it's going amazing, basically 'back to the formula.' I haven't been so hyped for new chapters for months.

As for your V6 reading, it's a volume that has a few 'arcs', which last 4+ chapters each.
But the arcs in V6 are great, the one you are coming close to is the first 'big event' in the story.
Yes, the characters you mentioned will be getting their own arcs this volume. That's one of the reasons why this volume's so good. What you've had so far was just a prelude to the real meat of this part of the story.

It's not as much Goblin wanking as Pirateaba being utterly incompetent in anything outside of writing. Even counting number in any reasonable way is beyond him. Ignoring any number associated with mass, distance or size is a must for reading TWI. It's a great story, outstanding in many parts, but it has flaws, sometimes truly annoying ones. You just have to put it down to Skills or something in your head. As far as flaws go, this one is rather mild.
