As someone living in the rural south, who's seen plenty of life plans fail, this one hit me pretty hard.

I just bought a pet mouse. What are the best novels about mice?

I'm also interested in reading mouse/hamster training books if anyone knows of one. Or psychology studies or anything of that nature

Can any of you give me some ideas about how relationships/themes in Of Mice and Men links to society in America or society as a whole in the 1930's?

I just got finished reading this book after seeing it on the recommended. I thought it was fantastic. Although, I'm looking for something else to read within the same genre, something preferably that deals with depression or cynicism. I also really enjoyed Catcher in the Rye.

Does /lit/ have any other recommendations?

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. I read this book at first when I was 13. Just gave it a reread; any opinions on it?

So are there any sadder books than of mice and men.
It really wasn't sad for me.
But it could have been because Lennie annoyed me.

This and The Giver were the only ones for me.

I don't come here a lot, so I hope I don't start a shitstorm, but what are your opinions on "Of Mice and Men" and "Catcher in the Rye"?

Just curious is all. Thanks, /lit/

The best book ive read is Of mice and men, its by a guy called Steinbeck. Its a really good book, theres a lot of themes explored in the book, like the american dream, the impact of depression and how plans never seem to work out.

The two lead characters George and Lenny, really work well together, one is big and slow, whilst the other is snappy.

I think its good to have two lead characters as it offers two differeing perspectives on events, which adds a depth to the book.

What would you consider the most depressing book ever written, /lit/?

I want to cry the way I did when reading Tom Sawyer and praying to god Tom and Becky didn't die in that cave
