Is it worth reading? There's some harsh criticism

Best/most recommended books on WWII? I've read Shirer and want a broader, probably shallower history of the war and all of its participants and major conflicts. Just a general history which will allow me to subsequently dive into more specific WWII events/topics/personalities.

Recently read Keegan on WWI and am hoping for something like that, but if at all possible with more maps and at least a bit more military detail, which is why I'm not just immediately buying Keegan's book on WWII.

Thanks!
