Is pic related a good start into subversion and propaganda?

How did liberals go from protesting against the capitalist elite and supporting Chomsky to fully supporting mass media and embracing its talking points while calling you a conspiracy theorist if you say that theres a hyper capitalist elite group that owns the media, corporations and banks and everything it does and every information it pumps out its for its own benefit and to protect it's interests. Basically if I agree with pic related, I'm considered a chud to modern leftists. What led to this?

Has anyone read Manufacturing Consent? I know Naom Chomsky is eyeroll tier, but I've been recommended this every time I ask for books on propaganda and how propaganda and politics interact.

Why are lolbertarians saying corona-chan is a hoax? Did people have this sort of reaction to Spanish flu too?
Do they earnestly believe it's not a real pandemic or is it just cyncial propaganda?
Do they actually believe normies should be out coofing on each other and dying?

Book recommendation here, Manufacturing Consent. Capitalism loves censorship while shoving fascist propaganda down your throat.

I've been trying to get into the relation between language and propaganda, and i thought pic related would be a good start (because it's written by Chomsky). Is this really a good start, and what are any other good works on this subject?
