I know the penguin deluxe version of Gravity's Rainbow has some very bad errors. What about this penguin version?

You're right, I was exaggerating. Still irked me enough once I found out to go buy pic related.

It's a fantastic, impressive, and hilarious book. Really rare to find a fun-hearted intellectual with great prose. I hope he lives at least another ten years... wonder if we'll get anything after Bleeding Edge.

Is this an easy-ish read? I'm keen to read a long book, but I've been reading a lot of light stuff lately so I don't know if I can take too sharp a U-turn at once. If it's not an easy read, can anyone recommend a long book that is?

How important is a book's cover to you?

Personally a good book cover encourages me to actually pick it up and read it whereas a dull or bad cover might not create that urge.

Pic semi related. It vs...

Hey /lit/!
I'm trying to read through Gravity's Rainbow right now, and I'm about 80/90 pages in.
While I'm getting most of it, sometimes I do find myself a little confused.

However, I'm still thoroughly amused and intrigued by the book.
Is this the wrong way to go about it, to just cruise through and not comprehend every detail?

Or should I slow down a bit and make sure to pick up EVERYTHING?

Sup /lit/, considering reading gravity's rainbow, how hard is the prose? could you provide with some good excerpts to me give an idea of it?

Dear /lit/,

today, after reading it nearly 9 months, I finished Gravity´s Rainbow. Needless to say, I didn´t get it. Obviously there was enough in it to keep me going, some fun dialogues. Once in a while an interesting idea or a creative combination of various concepts. The sexual content probably was on the edge for its time, but has no shocking value any longer (after you've seen /b/ once). The author knows his stuff, that's for sure (as an engineer myself I could really appreciate the technical puns), but still, I expected more.

tl;dr you tricked another one into reading an unreadable book which isn't really special

So /lit/, after having set it down for an entire summer, I'm finally about to finish Gravity's Rainbow. I must say, I've never felt such a sense of "I MISSED EVERYTHING THIS BOOK HAS TO OFFER" as I do right now. Tell me, what the hell should I be getting from this book? It's a wonderful book, but all I can get as far as themes go is "sometimes there's just no real reason why things happen." Also, stories about times when you totally missed the point of a story.
