just finished reading this in school and wrote an essay about it today.

teacher says it's the best piece of western literature of all time.

what does /lit/ think?

How can anyone deny the presence of the Oedipus Complex in this play?

are there any critics/writers who really explain all the nitty-gritty about Shakespeare (things like, explain his metaphorical constructions, and how they fit with the character who's speaking; delineate all the basic essential human nature that he depicts over the course of ALL his plays, etc...)?

Each time I read one of these plays, I'm blown away by how sharp it is, but there's so much stuff I'm not bright enough to get on my own

book?

thanks, /lit/
