My fundamental disagreement with Plato isn't an aesthetic one - his dialogues are quite entertaining - rather, it is metaphysical. He postulates an essentially supernatural realm when he posits his theory of forms, an unnecessary ontological conceptualisation given concepts exist in the mind. This set humanity back quite substantially if one is enclined to believe, as I am, that Christianity is Platonism for the masses. Aristotle is much more aligned with truth. He more or less gave birth to science with his natural philosophy, at the very least the field of biology, not to mention his momentous contributions to logic. He is a superior thinker in every way.

What should I do with my life /lit/?

I'm approaching 30 and currently NEET.

I have a bachelor's degree with honours in philosophy. Should I just go into academia?

No. Aristotle had many great ideas. This wasn't one of them. He was a product of his time in this regard and had his prejudices. He said some rather idiotic things about women also. Don't let this put you off reading him however.

Just checked it out. Can't say I'm a fan of the layout and it doesn't seem particularly mobile friendly.

I say we keep making noise and maybe start a petition.

I'd suggest getting a domain and doing it ourselves but I wouldn't know where to source default imageboard source code. Could be a cool project though.

Hey mods,

Can we get a dedicated philosophy board?

It's frustrating to discuss the topic merely in reference to historical texts as the conversation is invariably derailed by people not staying on topic, referencing religious texts, or just name dropping one of the greats and articulating what they thought without actually engaging with the subject at hand.

/his/ has its own issues with philosophy largely being sidelined.

People here have clearly demonstrated their ability to engage critically with the ancient, analytic, and continental traditions. It would be great if we could have an environment that encouraged this specifically.
