Wanting validation certainly doesn't make you sub-par, but perhaps you're seeking validation in the wrong places? To clarify, why do you care in particular what these professors think? Is it because you believe that they are wiser than you, or is it simply because they possess more factual knowledge? There is nothing laudable about the latter. Throughout my life I've met many people who were exceptional by almost any metric, but upon scrutiny revealed themselves to be caricatures of the professor from the "Hey pinhead, how old is this rock?" copypasta.

>EVERYONE is insecure, to some extent.
Unfortunately, this is truer than it ought to be. There is a healthy egoism which certain philosophers have touched upon, but an over-inflated ego which responds with hostility to honest criticism is no boon to its owner.

Wisdom is not a trait unique to the lettered class, but the fruit of wisdom (the self-awareness that one does not possess it) cannot ripen without cultivation. My original post simply outlined a series of conditions which tend towards creating a bountiful harvest.

I hope you don't actually believe I'm an intolerant elitist. I certainly don't think of myself as haughty.

A classic, as well as an interesting read.

>I can't accept not knowing, which wise people can, as i have learned.
Might I recommend Paradise Lost Book VIII? I attached a pic related, and offer a further quotation:

>God to remove his wayes from human sense,
>Plac'd Heav'n from Earth so farr, that earthly sight,
>If it presume, might erre in things too high,
>And no advantage gaine.

Care to offer any further insight? Your sole disciple >>8864324 sounds quite bitter. Going to an elite school did not make me smarter, but it helped to cultivate the skills which I already possessed; it also made people much more likely to jump down my throat.

>Socrates is goading Euthyphro, to get him to develop his thoughts
Your knowledge is given insincerely, as though it were an offering from Cain. I'm sorry that you have no ability to restate philosophy and rely on your transcriptions of lecture slides, or alternatively that you are overeager to knock your presumed opponent down a peg. If you were not so judgmental in the first instance you might have seen that this more or less is precisely what I said.

If you have something more interesting to say (your own thoughts, potentially) on the dialogue I would be happy to discuss it with you, as well as how it relates to Socrates' own largely analogous situation in Apology.

I am perfectly able to enjoy the company of ordinary people, that is until they turn it into a pissing contest, or put me into an awkward situation intellectually (one where it becomes impossible to casually relate with them without exposing their biases and earning their anger, for I am not capable of misrepresenting myself for unduly long periods).
