First, if you are going to critique one of the masters of the English language, you should do so in a more refined manner, and not like a sophomore taking creative writing classes at a state university. Secondly, I can understand why a soulless plebeian such as yourself was revolted with this work: it's about metaphysical and spiritual inquiry, not plot. Thirdly, if his style eludes you, it's because it's biblical, with which I assume you are unfamiliar. Moby-Dick was ahead of its time and preceded the modernists by about 60-70 years.
