Evolution, and some sort of concept of creation (mutation) are complementary THEORIES, if you take the time to unify the concepts of experience, and academia.

Theories are explicative models, and no theory should be taken as a permanent, universal and necessary fact, for new data, experience, or inference, could rebate the whole theory as a block. That is valid for the theory of evolution too.

Taking evolution as the ultimate theory, is as in-satisfactory as taking religion for a whole explicative model. We will never be able to get Satisfaction only with reason... The Rolling Stones said this long ago.

Also (tangential, but relevant):

4.1122 The Darwinian theory has no more to do with philosophy than has any other hypothesis of natural science.

4.113 Philosophy sets limits to the much disputed sphere of natural science.

4.121 Propositions cannot represent logical form: it is mirrored in them. What finds its reflection in language, language cannot represent. What expresses itself in language, we cannot express by means of language. Propositions show the logical form of reality. They display it.

7.1 When one is given the gift of language (any language), one can express what can't be said, that is what arts are for.

7.12 Reality has more layers to our minds and spirits, than mere reason can infer.

>Then, realise that we're ultimately speaking of choices among alternatives

There is a reason why Sartre whined about non choosers. One most essential act of freedom one can do, is saying no, as this anon suggested: >>4180601

Then, another random act of freedom, is play with significative language, by using it freely, as a kid would do, and here is another example: >>4180988

A higher way of achieving this, using language would be poetry. Because in poetry, language sprouts its originary purity. A rebellion against established sense.

What do you think people re-read books for? Reading a book for plot surprises is only one of the reasons to read a book.
