Hey /lit/

I am writing a book (in Faroese, mind you) about a land, where you have an opportunity to live either of two lives (my English isn't great, I know), either a normal middle-class life, or get moved to an isle, where there are no laws, no taxes, no import (other than people willing to go there, of course) and you can do, basically anything. My problem is, that I'm kinda lacking any ideas... Halp? (And I mean, should it be a tropical island? What is the conflict? And etc.)

What are some good biographies (autobiographies or otherwise)?

Hey, /lit/. Need a fun, somewhat light read. A series is even better. Favorite authors include Neal Stephenson, Alexandre Dumas, China Mieville, and Ursula LeGuin.

Maybe something a bit cyberpunk-ish, but lighter in tone? Kind of like Snow Crash? If you know anything like that, awesome. If not, don't let it limit you. Anything you think I might like.
