/lit/, I come to you with a heavy heart and a light head. I need to ask you advice not just about books; I also want to ask you opinion of what is essentially bothering me.

I was not much of a current affairs guy but I started recently and I am already in a depressing and brooding mood all day these days.

My country's government is currently leaning towards Hinduism in an obvious manner. There have been many scattered voices across country about shunning the "western" values and bringing back "good, old" tradition we are used to. I see this as repressive and un-modern.

On the other hand, I also feel that liberalism may not necessarily work. Take Sweden; they have fucked up beyond measure, haven't they?

Maybe the world is not ready for a liberal system yet. Maybe we should just stick to simple ideas about sex, love, politics, and people.

Help me, /lit/. What books can I read to understand more about the effects of liberal policies? What books give a balanced view, and maybe even talk in favour of rightist policies?
