so. i wrote a novel. 88,000 words, and i'm thinking about submitting it to Penguin Books.. the problem is, their submission guidelines require me to list some published books that my novel is similar to, so they can push it into the appropriate channels.

best i can think of is gonzo science-fiction. it's set in the universe of the Church of the Subgenius, and we Subgenii are crazy fuckers; Bigfoot, Atlantis, the Elder gods, flying saucers from planet X, the Men In Black Government Conspiracies, Elvis, Jesus, YHWH - we throw all of that shit in the blender and then snort it, blender and all.

my novel isn't as out-and-out batshit insane as Paul Mavrides' "World Without Slack" or Boddhisatva Troutwaxer's "The Flowers", and i like to think people who have never heard of "Bob" will understand it... but is there anything i can i tell these people, or should i resign myself to being a freak?

i know "Bob" well. since you refer to "the real Bob Dobbs" without the quotes, i can only assume that you are purple/tellurian/5bodied/ Bob Dean - that asshole from Canada who claims he invented the Church of the Subgenius. nobody reads your shit. nobody listens to your podcasts. nobody believes that you are "Bob". swallow a urinal cake and die, pink boy.
