I'm at least planning on reading up to the 4 horseman and the skynet ai Reason i'm reading the series in the first place is because I needed a good post apocalyptic fantasy binge, and a friend rec'd me this as well with a bit of interesting spoilers.

The first book The Sword of Shannara was, since it derived heavily off of the Lord of the Rings series. Sadly most people just read the first book and get turned off by the series, assuming that it's another lotr knockoff.
