Seriously just spend a bit more for a kindle paperwhite. It has easily been the single best purchase in my life. I've saved probably thousands of dollars on books by pirating them instead. Cannot recommend it enough.

>is it hard to pirate books there?
No. Download calibre and get mobi, PDF, or AZW3 files from zlibrary and/or libgen. It's incredibly easy and efficient. Use a VPN to bypass assmad ISPs.

Bing bong, Anon. Just buy an ereader. One-time lump sum of ~$100 for unlimited free books. Can't go wrong.

Eh, to each their own. I only do it because it works out to be about as expensive as living in one place and I get to see all kinds of cool things. I think eventually I settle down back home in Canada (or maybe the states) on a bit of land and build a really small house.

Kindle PW + protective case + zlibrary + Calibre = unlimited /lit/ in a tiny package for ~CAD$140 total. Best purchase of my life.

Kindle PW. Does everything I need it to. Picked this over a Kobo because it's waterproof JUST IN CASE.

I spent ~CAD$140 for a kindle PW, a protective case, and unlimited FREE books. It's so easy to pirate books nowadays that I'd feel silly shelling out twenty, thirty, maybe even FIFTY dollars for 20 year old book. I read MORE now that I have easy access to anything I've ever wanted. Plus (I would argue) reading on an ebook is comfier than a physical book. It's much lighter and I can easily read with one hand or in the dark. Not to mention how little space an ereader takes up. I have 3000 books, enough for decades, in something 1/4 the size and weight of a normal book. Didn't spend a cent on any of them. E-Ink > physical unless you're rich and want to build a large library, which is respectable.

I'm very pleased with my Kindle PW. I picked it over a Kobo because the price was the same but it was waterproof.

>COMFORTABLE
No more page turning, lighter than any book. E-Ink means no eye strain or blue light (ignore the shills).
>DURABLE
Kindle PW is waterproof. Get a nice case to make it drop and scratch proof too.
>PORTABLE
I have a large library with me wherever I go. Each ebook is usually no larger than 2 or 3 MB.
>AFFORDABLE
Pirate all your ebooks. No more paying (((publishers))) their royalty shekels. Think of it as a one-time payment of a hundred or so dollars for unlimited books.

TAKE THE E-BOOK PILL BROS.

>Why haven't e-readers taken over physical books?
Because there is still some merit to having a nice physical book in your hands. Smells nice too. Personally I took the ereader pill because I like the portability, but I get it if someone has a nice library that they want to add to.
>e-books are only a fraction of yearly book sales
Because who the fuck buys ebooks? Boomers on Amazon are the only people who still pay for ebooks.

>Ahem
ebooks are the future. Much less likely to be destroyed, no waste, no expense. 10000 books will cost you $120.

My kindle paperwhite is probably the best $130 I've ever spent. I haven'y paid for a book since. Also it feels really nice to have a huge library (~2k books) with me wherever I go. Plus the battery lasts a few weeks and charges in like an hour.

I have a kindle paperwhite and some $20 case from Amazon. Best purchase of my life. ~CAD$125 for unlimited free books. Never connected it to the internet. I use zlibrary, a VPN, and calibre on my laptop to get an ebook of *almost* anything I'd ever want. Saved several hundred dollars on assigned books for uni this way. It's incredibly freeing to know that I have a library on me whenever I want. Highly recommend.
>Doesn't cause eye strain, can read in the dark no problem
>Waterproof
>Sturdy (not worried about breaking it)
>Enough storage for several thousand books (like 4000+)
>Battery lasts for weeks, takes like an hour to charge (could use a solar cell charger if you're innawoods)
