there is a good film about this topic. it follows the story of Bachs rival composers Chianetti and von Glaubke. if I remember it correctly its about them starving while JS Bach always eats with aristocrats and they get fed up with being mistreated even though theyre his equals. They eventually move to some remote place in the Alps and start composing there, where nobody ever reads their works or something...I forgot the title, just google "Broke Bach Mountain"
